Retired celebrity David Beckham has revealed he is building a full size Lego model of Old Trafford in his back garden.
The helium voiced National Treasure admits to being a lifelong fan of the popular kid’s toy.
He said: “I remember my parents taking us to Legoland, and always I felt on the same wavelength as the plastic figures, and that was me hooked.
“I’ve always loved making smaller Lego models like the Star Wars figures and I even made a Skyscraper once when I piled 26 blocks on top of each other.
“So when I retired I thought I’d use the extra spare time to build a life sized model of Old Trafford.”
When asked if this was possibly a bit over ambitious the eternal optimist scoffed.
He said: “That’s what they thought about hosting the London Olympics, but I managed to pull that off without any problems.
“Things have been going really well so far. I’ve started by doing the pitch and at the moment I’ve got the six yard box at the Stretford End done.
“But I’ve run out of green bits, so it looks like it could take a few weeks longer than I expected.”
