Manchester City and Chelsea have become involved in a tug of war over Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney.
The Oceans Eleven star is back on the market after splitting from long term girlfriend Stacy Keibler.
But if the giants of the English game have their way, double Oscar winner Clooney won’t be single for much longer.
Chelsea are thought to be favourites to land him with a package worth around $30-million-a-year.
However, the West London club are worried about Clooney’s inability to commit to a long term relationship, and suggestions that he is a selfish misogynist who is only after one thing.
But, it seems new Man City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, is ready to bend over and take the Clooney plunge, after watching the actor on ER and many English language films he can’t remember the name of.
He said: “I certainly am not looking to get dumped after a whirlwind romance. I want a long term commitment from George.
“I believe that his chiseled good looks and exciting disdain for societal conventions will offset the abundance of ugly players in our squad.
“On my first day here, I saw Nasri and Tevez and nearly jumped out of my skin. From that moment, I knew we had to get Clooney.
