Gerrard, who has the balance and concentration of a drunken stray dog , is believed to be the only person in Britain who is not currently aware that he is no longer good enough to play for Liverpool.
Now manager Rodgers hopes the England captain will finally get the message.
He said: “I’ve never had to write a letter dumping a player before, but Steven is no ordinary player; most players can hold their position and understand tactics, something he can’t.
“Yes he is still the captain of England but they don’t have a chance of winning anything; Liverpool are actually progressing as a team.
“The novelty of having Steven in the side has worn off I’m afraid.”
England manager Roy Hodgson revealed he doesn’t have the courage or the vision to drop Gerrard.
He said: “Players such as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard achieved absolutely nothing with the national side when they were in their prime.
“And that’s exactly why I keep picking them now. The thought of winning something with England scares me, I wouldn’t like all that attention.”
