Sherwood, who only last month was driving a London taxi which had no steering wheel, resents being compared to the managerial equivalent of Frank Spencer.
He said: “Yes I’m new to the job, but I’m a brainless Alpha male who used to play professional football, so of course I’m going to get ahead of myself.
“Moyes and Man United are like Basil and Fawlty Towers….you know he’s going to piss off the staff and insult the Germans.”
He added: “We went to Old Trafford with a simple game plan; when we have the ball; try and score a goal….And when they have the ball; do the opposite.
“It worked beautifully and something we hope to replicate in the future.”
Moyes has blasted back at Sherwood, claiming he likes all British sitcoms equally and does not favour one over the other; although he does have a soft spot for Hi-de-Hi!.
He said: “I concede that Tim is a better tactician, coach and human being than myself, however I take serious offense at the Fawlty Towers comparison.
“If my time at United is going to be compared to any sitcom – and believe me I think about this a great deal – it would be Hi-de-Hi! because when this is done no one is going to be watching the re-runs.”
