Refereeing egotist Howard Webb has insisted that his predilection for wearing Manchester United pyjamas has no bearing on his ability to officiate.
Webb also denies reading a book titled ‘How to influence football matches in favour of the team you support – a handbook for all morally corrupt referees, lines people and ball boys’.
He said: “Just because I hate Liverpool, doesn’t mean I cannot do my job properly.
“Yes I read that book before every big game involving United’s rivals. I also consult with a gypsy fortune teller every day of my life dressed in the ’99 treble winning kit.
“If that makes me bias then I guess I am because I intend to marry that women.”
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has stated that he thinks United and Webb are part of a shadowy organisation which secretly rules the world.
“That’s why the Middle East is falling apart.”
He added: “Look, I am not accusing Webb of being bias.
“What I am saying is that he is part of a global conspiracy against Liverpool football club – nothing more.”
